Born
in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Cheryl immigrated to the United
States with her parents when she was four years old.
At that tender age, she started her musical training
with piano and violin lessons. Two years later she
fell in love with the harp while attending her first
harp concert. Some of the world's best harp teachers,
Sue Davids, Alice Chalifoux, and Jeanne Chalifoux,
provided her formal harp instruction.
As
guest artist with the Washington Philharmonic, Japanese
Philharmonic, Washington Choral Society, and the Maryland
Opera Theater, Cheryl has performed throughout Europe
and the United States. Under the direction of Momo
Kadous, she toured Germany as solo harpist with the
internationally renowned Arabeska dance theater.
Drawing
on classical and contemporary influences, Cheryl expertly
performs her repertoire on an exquisite gold Gothic
harp. It's graceful curves and rippling harmonies bring
serenity, elegance and romance to any event. The beauty
of her music transcends language and cultural barriers
as it speaks directly to the heart. |
